During a segment on his ABC late-night talk show last Thursday, Jimmy Kimmel mocked the politics of former Olympian turned reality star turned California gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner by way of a quip that appeared to both offend its target and prompt cries of hypocrisy.

“Are we sure that isn’t Donald Trump in a Caitlyn Jenner wig?” Kimmel said, while juxtaposing photos of former president Donald Trump and Jenner on the screen. Kimmel also branded the political hopeful “Caitlyn Jenner Car-Crashian” — a reference to a fatal 2015 collision that Jenner was involved in.

In response, Jenner took to Twitter to write: “Last night @jimmykimmel called me Donald Trump with a wig. He obviously believes that trans women are simply men with wigs on. Where is the outrage from the left or LGBT community? Being WOKE must be optional if you are a Democrat.”

Jenner then posted a separate tweet of Kimmel in blackface, writing that he “also received a pass from the WOKE on his use of black face and racist actions. Hypocrite.”
