Donald Trump said he’s not going
Not that anyone presumed the former president would let an indictment get in the way of his reelection bid, but he’s now confirmed the obvious.
“AMERICA WENT TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT WITH TEARS IN ITS EYES,” Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.
I can’t stand this man, but I chuckled like shit at this.
I slept fine over the weekend following the former president becoming the first American president in history to be federally indicted by the federal government last week.
He faces a litany of charges — including conspiracy to obstruct justice and violating the Espionage Act — all because of his refusal to give the government back its documents.
I have read enough of the indictment to conclude that he’s guilty though that felt obvious last summer when he became the first American president to have his house raided by the feds. When they walked out of Mar-a-Lago, they were carrying the stuff they came for. And shortly before he announced he had been indicted, reports surfaced that he had been recorded confessing to his crimes — for a book about his former chief of staff Mark Meadows.
I don’t doubt that Trump could be tempted to sell America’s secrets for an extra percentage of whatever hotel in the Middle East he leases his name to, but it made a lot more…
