If Joe Manchin Isn’t The Real President, Joe Biden Should Make That Clearer

No singular person should have so much sway over President Biden’s agenda

Last Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris was met with a question on the minds of many but posed to the wrong person to answer.

Speaking with Charlamagne tha God for his Comedy Central late night series Tha God’s Honest Truth, Harris was asked who the real president is: Joe Biden or West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin. Her response, released early as a clip before the interview aired, went viral as intended. While sufficient perhaps as performing political theater, how effective Harris was at actually answering the question is subjective.

“C’mon Charlamagne. C’mon, it’s Joe Biden,” Harris said in response. When he quipped “I can’t tell sometimes,” Harris cut him off. “No, no, no, no. It’s Joe Biden. It’s Joe Biden. And don’t start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he’s president, it’s Joe Biden and I’m vice president. My name is Kamala Harris,” she added.

The people who love Vice President Harris most appeared to respond to the clip favorably, but by that Sunday, the crux of Charlemagne’s critique was further illustrated as Senator Manchin appeared on Fox News Sunday to effectively announce his plans to…
