In the most polite way imaginable, Fox News host Will Cain asked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis why he is so bad at running for president.

He began by invoking a recent conference call of DeSantis supporters led by Steve Cortes, formally of Trump world but now serving at the pleasure of a DeSantis PAC, where he acknowledged that the DeSantis campaign is looking at an “uphill battle” as former President Trump’s polling numbers continue to show him dominating the race.

After gently letting DeSantis know that he believes he has “done a wonderful job” as governor, Cain asked him “When that job — if ever — begins to resonate in the numbers for you for president?”

Cain asked DeSantis about the narrative that he is “not connecting” with voters.

“There are those that say there is something about you that is not connecting for whatever reason — not connecting with the voter, whether it be personality, Donald Trump says it’s about loyalty, [Miami Mayor] Francis Suarez says it’s about your relationships,” Cain said.
